London Tasting - this Friday 29th January

Frogs and Haiku

Three years ago we reported to the world that our frogs were spawning in the middle of January here at Inchybridge. Little did we know that our frog spawn would also introduce us to Haiku, a form of verse brought to us from Japan by way of Western Australia!

On January 23rd, we sent out a Twitter message announcing the sighting of the frog spawn in our wetland system - which treats the waste water from the smokehouse. Within hours, there was a posting from Lesley Dewar, @LesleyDewar, a writer of children's stories and Haiku, living in Western Australia : 

Frogs promise anew ~~ your spring ponds punctuated ~~ with little commas

Rather clever we thought!

Food Expo 2010 Birmingham

Ummera will be at the Food Expo in March on the Irish Exporter's Association Stand at the NEC Birmingham, UK. If you are going there and would like to meet up with us on either March 22nd or 23rd, please let us know.

Photographic Evidence

Ummera has, over the years, taken an interest in technology and new communication methods; hidden away in the valleys of West Cork producing a product that reaches to many countries of the world, communications are our lifeline to our friends and customers. We have our website, we have our blog, we can be found on Facebook, LinkedIn and we Twitter.

The latter is possibly the most exciting as it is viral marketing at it's best! Send out an interesting comment and it can be bounced from person to person around the globe; take our frogs and their Haiku poem as an example!  But it isn't all just impersonal sentences of 140 characters circulating about the world.

Yesterday one of the followers of @ummera appeared in person and @RogerOverall (as he was know to us before yesterday) took some great photos and posted an excellent article on his website last night!

And it's Good News Day!

Just as we were about to sign off this newsletter an email came in from the USA:

"Just wanted to let you know that the order arrived exactly on time and the recipient was absolutely delighted with it - he said it was the best smoked salmon he had ever tasted. I am very grateful to you for gettng it there so efficiently."

That makes it all worth while!
